NextStop

Braga's buses live, on iOS, Android and the web.

An app for TUB buses in Braga: a map with buses in real time, arrivals by stop, lines, a route planner and the fleet. Available as a native app for iOS and Android and as an installable web app.

NextStop is an independent, unofficial app. It uses open data from TUB (Transportes Urbanos de Braga), which is credited as the source.

Case study

The challenge and how we solved it.

The challenge

Official timetables, bus positions and arrival predictions are spread across several sources, and none of them offers a fast experience designed to be checked at the stop.

The solution

Our own API (Hono on Vercel and PostgreSQL on Supabase) processes the official GTFS and combines bus GPS, real-time predictions and the timetable to calculate arrivals. Two clients run on top of it with the same screens, copy and logic: a native Flutter app for phones and tablets, and an installable static web app that works offline. A RAPTOR planner calculates routes with transfers directly on the device.
